Thanks for the responses everyone, I really appreciate the input. This will definitely give us more to think about!

Hi Cfhubby,
One more thing to think about is if your wife ever gets to the point that she needs a lung transplant, the surgeons will likely remove the breast implants. I don't have breast implants, but I found out after having my transplant that the center I go to do remove implants.
I agree with the others, I wouldn't jeopardize my health to have bigger breasts. I would just buy a bra to compensate.

I do not have implants but I do have a naturally large chest (38D) and it can be really annoying sometimes. Having a barrel chest makes them look even bigger. I'm sure that my husband enjoys it but most of the time, I don't. It's too much weight on a CF chest and my back tends to hurt now and then.

I saw that someone also brought up the transplant aspect. When I saw my transplant team for the first time, they asked me if I had implants because it could be a problem during surgery if I did. When I told Dr. Budev that they were mine and not implants, she was a little shocked because most CFers have small chests.

Anyway, between the back pain a larger chest can cause, and then a possible transplant and having to have them removed, I don't think it's worth the risk.

At my age I could use tons of help with my body lol Maybe if I was younger & in better help I may have considered some of them, but I wouldnt at this point..

I have had dental implants done & was worried about that .. Bad me, I never discussed it w/ my drs. & really should have..

I do know If drs warned against something most likely I would heed there waring ...

Take care joni

Hi there..I have cystic fibrosis & I got breast implants when I was 21. I guess it really depends on how your wife is doing. my doctors gave me the clearance depending clearly on how my pfts were doing. Talk to the doctor, if she's doing good then theres no reason to not go for it. It made a HUGE boost to my selfesteem & no I dont feel they put any type of weight on my lungs. I ofcoarse had discomfort the first day or too ( from the procedure itself) but none ever since. Life is short FOR ALL OF US. If she can, Id say go for it. Goodluck and keep us posted =)

I am 48 yrs old with CF. I had breast implants last year when I was 47. I always wanted them but was afraid then I decided to just do it! My recovery was really quick. I didn't take any pain medication and was moving about the house slowly the same day. I was sore for about three or four days but nothing I couldn't handle. I think it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I also know another girl with CF that had implants in her mid-thirties. We have the same doctor and he signed a clearance for us both. I don't focus on things I can't do because I feel that I can do anything someone without CF can do. In other words. I don't let CF define me! Everyone is different and what is right for one may not be right for another but I know that implants were right for me.

I was going to get mine done about 5 years ago, but when I told them I had MRSA, they told me that would triple my cost. Needless to say, I didn't get them done, but I wish I could, especially when I lose weight...
