Health insurance doesn't have to be so costly anymore! After paying an
arm and a leg for HMOs with the 20/80 deductible, I've
shopped around to for great pricing for health insurance.

That's where I bumped into this site:
** link removed **

I've never seen such fast results. I am so happy with the service, I am
recommending all who are in need of health insurance or maybe paying
too much to visit the link above.

There wasn't a link listed, and I just read an article this weekend in Good Housekeeping regarding insurance companies. Kind of the ole "if it sounds too good to be true, it is". So if you're trying to get a new insurance company, make sure to check w/ the Better Business Bureau to see if they're on the up and up.

Be most careful with insurance companies. Always remember that no matter how good of a deal it is, the company is in it for the business not to help you. Many times there is a lot of fine print such as a yearly max or lifetime max on benefits which may or may not include prescriptions. There are so many ways that an insurance company can deny claims. It depends on the contract that you agree to. Even if benefits are being paid quickly, it doesnt mean it wont stop somewhere along the line because of the fine print mentioned above. I hate to be a pestimist, but I have dealt with insurance on both sides & have seen some really sad things happen. You might be fortunate & have found a legit company that fits your needs, but I dont want people finding out the hard way. Especially when dealing with a chronic illness like CF.

Insurance companies are scum, indeed. They're arguably worse than the tobacco companies. At least those provide something which people find enjoyable! Insurance will look to rip you off on any clause, any technicality, any unspoken assumption that they'll claim you "should have known about" when buying a policy. And all this to deny treatment that is either lifesaving, or (the rest of the time) helpful towards alleviating an illness you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, just because it's expensive. Because as everyone in the insurance industry knows, the sick aren't people; they're the only thing standing between your company and a hefty profit.

Okay, maybe that's a <i>bit</i> exaggerated. But not a lot, unfortunately. It's amazing how people's ethics get tossed to the wayside when they're part of a highly unethical organization.

Erm, sorry if I'm wrong, but Mitch's post seems a bit too much like an advertisement to me. It doesn't really matter since the link didn't go through, anyway, but Mitch, if you do belong to some insurance company, don't bother, OK? This really isn't the right place.

I would have to agree with Jarod here. As for insurance, I'm on my mom's Blue Cross Blue Shield, so I know they'll take CFers. Life insurance is a different story, we've never been able to find life insurance for me.

Queenie,

In the US every insurance most cover a preexisting illness so long as you do have not a lapse in coverage for more than 64 days prior,it is a federal law.

Queenie, you're not alone. I think the only reason why most of us have insurance right now is because our parents had insurance before we were born, and the insurance companies couldn't legally drop us. At least, that's my story. If you didn't have insurance before your child was diagnosed, though, I don't know. I'd say your best bet is having a group policy through an employer. Insurace companies are a little more leniant with those because the company puts more money into it, or something.... Actually, I don't know what I'm talking about, but it does seem insurance companies are a lot more cooperative with group plans rather that private accounts. =-)
