I had no idea of this until my mom mentioned something about it. If you are on ss disability your child is automatically eligable to recieve disability benefits until age 18. It is between 50%-80% of what you recieve each month. Now this has nothing to do with my son and if he is considereed disabiled this is soley on the fact that I his parent am on disability. I know with all the meds and insurance that we pay every penny counts. I went to the SS office today and talked to them to sign nicolas up but we just have to wait until he recieves his ss number, but the lady was super nice and gave me all the information.

I dont know if others know about this, I had no idea.

I am sure that everyone will have a different opinion about this, nick and I talked about it and to us it is a way to ensure that we can send nicolas to college, and at least help make sure that he is taken care of if something happens to me.

That's nice to know. I guess I thought your child received benefits only if you had the child before you were placed on disability.
