I tried it for about 6-8 mos.

It was way too hard to get the needed fats and making foods was too difficult for me. Now I just try to stay organic and eat foods without all the chemicals and preservative and other 'crap' that is found in our foods.

Good luck though and I think it is the ideal way to eat but there aren't enough options available and people would rather have convenience and packaged foods rather than take the time to be meatless and organic. Plus, the prices are outrageous.

If people understood all the garbage that was in their food and the effects on their body, the prices of healthy foods would be lower and we would eat healthier.

the organic consumers association is great website.

musclemania...don't forget the small organic farmers who are being taken over by huge corps. You can't get the organic, grass fed, free range, etc. food that's healthier for you without them, but it now costs them a lot of money to raise food that way. If every corp would go organic along with the small farms there wouldn't be a problem. But those large corps are gonna do their job with a little money as possible and get as much out of it as they can.

Anyways, I just reccommend checking online which fish have more calories and definitely using the vegan margarine and lots of it! Whole Foods, or Central Market and Sprouts are great places to get good, organic foods and they have good selections of soy or tofu products. I think you could do it, but its gonna be hard and probably cost more in the begining.

I agree with you Anna.
The large corps want to bend the rules to make it harder for the organic farmers to survive. Ever bought organic chicken? Expensive is an understatement.

Local farmers markets usually have reasonable prices and you can always negotiate with them for price. Tell them you support their cause.

My grocery bill has gotten 50% higher since buying organic products. But when you find out about whats in the processed foods, you'll start to wonder what the large food companies aren't telling us.

It didn't take but one Intussusception surgery for me to stop eating meat. At that time, I wasn't a fan of fish, so became vegetarian. I soon grew to love sushi. I currently DO NOT eat meat, but still eat fish raw and cooked. I understand the challenges that come with being a vegetarian. I have been back and forth between eating fish and not. When I learned about meat and what it does to my intestines, it was an easy choice. I worked at a steakhouse for 5 years! You can imagine...

I shop at the local farmer's markets, whole "paycheck" foods and just starting to grow my own herbs. Yes, It is time consuming, but well worth it. Eating FOOD instead of BOXED or precooked stuff has made a WORLD of difference on my digestion. It's only when I eat boxed stuff that I feel the pain, bloating and bm issues. When I am in tip top shape I eat as much RAW foods as possible, which is the best way to get nutrients as well as regulate my bowels.

@musclemania: FOR REAL...."food" companies don't tell us anything...only what we want to hear. Organic foods are more expensive, but it is FOOD. My friend from India said to me "EVERYTHING is in a box. What is that?" I'm just saying...
