I think having a good teacher is great for yoga and guiding for what is best or a physical therapist when your in the hospital. They might know what is good for your port But I think you are probably the best judge of that. choose positions that you are most comfortable with. I know the twisting positions are bad for me. because of a back disc problem. But I learned that from this great book that I recommended early on the post. I really recommend the book highly. It is great. There are also some positions that are uncomfortable for my three hernias. I just use a pillow to make it easier or I avoid that position. We know our bodies best.

Anything from the Gaiam series is good, very relaxing. Pilates is another option, but requires more strength so if you do it start with beginner and do only 5 minutes even if you feel fine (you'll feel it later). This is my favorite pilates DVD (mat workout):

It's a serious workout, beginner-advanced. The exercises are demonstrated very well so you can clearly see how your alignment is supposed to be. Amazon sells it too.

I do yoga. it feels amazing and helps to build muscle. i dig it.

I also do cardio exercise (eliptical).... exercise has been shown to hydrate the lungs (similar to with hypertonic saline does). def a must!

i was really really really REALLY against exercise in the beginning. i even told my CF friend i'd rather die a few years earlier than to exercise. but he kept pushing me and i'm so grateful for it. i feel so much better every day

I do the elliptical primarily. If you go real slow, I'm sure you can do it. It's fairly low impact (especially for any of the various cardio machines, no stomping feet) and even when I'm tired, I still find it fun.
