Yes, but as an adult at a children's hospital, I feel that the docs just aren't meeting my needs. I am trying to find a pulmonary physician who will take me on.

We just had to switch insurance carriers to cigna, so it's a real fight! cigna sucks!

Hmmm.. very interesting..

Before I knew I had cf recently, I went to an infection disease spec. and told him the following. I had been to Arizona (Phoenix and Grand Canyon). Wierd lung issues started after that including pluerisy. Then a year after that intense neuro and eye problems started. That's the M.O. of the more dangerous form of Coccidiomycosis (valley fever). (I also went to Australia.. Cryptococossis is the Austraian version). He said it couldn't be because I wasn't immunocompromised. I've been wondering lately if CF allows something like valley fever to set up camp in the body.. because it does other bugs.. Anybody have any info on valley fever + CF?

I have CF and lived in the valley for almost 12 years. I have not contracted Valley Fever, and I do alot of work outside.

Vinsmom, See if you can meet with Dr. Amy Silverthorn. She works (not sure if she is still there) out of McAuley Medical Building at 500 West Thomas Road Suite 950 (next door to St. Joe's).. She is not associated with PCH (<u>and you'd need to check your insurance</u>.) I have been told she is great with CF patients. She's not on my side of town, so I don't go to her. Maybe I should though.

I live in the Valley as well and found out not too long ago that earlier this errr last year I had Valley Fever.

My pulmonary specialist was not aware of this as the symptoms presented very much like one of my infections VF never crossed our minds. I was treated with IV antibiotics off and on for three months. Then switched to oral antibiotics as I was undergoing pre-tx testing.

I only found out about valley fever after receiving a call from the County Health Department checking up on how I was feeling... turned out that during my pre-tx testing they found out I was testing positive for VF. However, the tx team did not tell me that... They simply placed me on VFend and Bactrim and it took care of it in no time... I do have to take Vfend for the rest of my life as a precaution and was required to take it the entire time pre-tx.

Dr. Amy Silverthorn is a great physician not sure if she only handles adults or any pulmonary patients. Also anyone in her office Arizona Pulmonary Specialists are great (I am told they have other locations around the valley).

I do know of a Pulmonary Pediatric Doc that is located at St. Joe's in the 500 Building (his name is Dr. Gregory J. Legris). I was treated by him when I was younger...
