Anyone have a gas oven?

Hello. I would suggest getting someone in to take a look at it for you. We have a gas oven, but it has an electric start on it, which has been giving us problems lately (I think we need to have ours looked at too). If the starter won't come on, then the gas won't come on. It's a pain in the butt. Sad thing is, it's only 3-4 years old. I don't know why they have to put all of this electronic stuff on everything anymore. I much rather prefer the "old" style where you could just stick a match under there to make the gas come on if the pilot light went out (lol).

I don't know what kind of stove you have, but just thought I would mention that (about the starter). Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, it was an oven problem that was quite easily remedied (though $150... urgh). The appliance guy came out and replaced the "ignitor", which he said is a common problem. He said they're very touchy and sometimes just "burn out" for whatever reason (yes, this is a 4 year old stove too... ridiculous). So, he replaced it and my food cooks faster than it has in a long time. I reckon its been going out for some time, as I usually had to add 10-15 minutes' cook time to recipes.

Anyway, Allisa, I think its the same issue, but not sure. It seemed an electric starter and it did not require a match to restart the pilot light or anything like that. So, I think we're talking about the same thing.

Either way, the gas was not the problem... which is good.... I didn't think it was since I never actually smelled gas and my stove was working beautifully. Now that its fixed I really smell gas when it lights up (meaning it probably lets in the correct amount to light the oven now compared to before when it just let in a trickle....)
