i know most cf'ers sweat ALOT!!! we have dealt with that issue since my daughters birth. but lately (last couple weeks) at night she is literally soaking wet with sweat, her pillow is soaked through to the other side, and her bed sheets feel like someone poured water on them. i have had to buy her a new pillow every week because hers gets so yucky! its usually just her head. when she wakes up her hair is wet-damp and stinks of sweat (even though she just had a bath before bed). i have tried putting her in a pull up and short sleve t-shirt to sleep in with just a little sheet on top and she still is soaking wet in the a.m. does this sound familiar to anyone??? what did you do or what did your cf specialist say?? (like i mentioned, this is not "normal" excessive cf sweating) would love your advise!!! thanks.

Hi, we are still on the fence with a diagnosis here but my son is the same. We live in MN where we are lucky if it's above 20 degrees. The rest of the kids come in from recess feeling cold, he comes in like he had been swimming! He is always dripping sweat on his head. And then, when it dries, he has visible salt in his hair. Ugh. There is never a time when he doesn't need another shower.
We found some really great water-proof mattress covers and they now make them for pillows too. It is soft on the outside so it is among the few that won't make the pillow crunchy! It helps a lot. He also wears a pull-up because his night tube feedings have made night wetting an issue for him again that does seem to help with excess sweat in the sheets too.
I am sorry I cannot say what the problem is, just that we have it too.

DS has always, always been a heavy sweater -- since he was a baby. Kicking off cover, wet head, soaking wet pjs.

You may want to post this in the adult section though being that it's not commonplace for her and seems to have just started.

thanks guys... its just so crazy!! i am laying in my bed with 3 blankets on me (including an electric one) and am still cold and she is over in her room sweating bullets with just a sheet over her. she had her 3 yr bloodwork back in december and it showed no abnormalities so im assuming this is cf related.

Does she have reflux? I think I've seen some adults post about night sweats being associated with reflux/aspiration related issues that resolved when the reflux was better controlled. The other thing I've seen here associated with severe night sweats is blood sugar issues (either low or high.) It's worth asking the adults about I think.
