I may be mistaken on this but Tricare 4 life is also given to retired military personnel. I only say that because my dad has it as well.

As for me I have three insurances and had the biggets headache when I was signed up for medicare through disability.

If you have insurance other than medicare and it is acquired through active employment I was under the understanding that the primary would be the employeed insurance - as Mel described.

HOWEVER, if you have medicare and tricare it. Medicare is filed first - TRICARE will NOT pay if Medicare is not filed first.

80/20 IS the breakdown if you have medicare primary, but your copayment should depend on the coverage through tricare. There are some meds and things that are not covered though medicare that are through tricare and the same goes for other insurances.

What may end up happening is either - you choose to stay a t Club Med for the length of the IV treatment OR you may have to file for reimbursement through Tricare.

I will also say that I am pretty confident that if the home health files properly that Medicare will forward the claim to Tricare for Tricare to pay and show proof the Medicare was filed. At least that is how it was described to me during my insurance debacle a few years ago.

I agree that I would contact someone on the base that knows about your military benefits to ask the questions about what Tricare will or won't cover after Medicare.

I have not had too much experience with that because by the time my charges get to Tricare there is typically very little left for them to cover if anything.

this is one of the same reasons why I kicked Mark's medicare coverage to the curb. It was a hassle from HELL to get anything paid for. Tricare for Life's coordination of benefits is in the shitter, and well...medicare is just a little bit worse. I seriously spent about 7 days on the phone with them to get some bills rectified. Who has that kind of time...

I can't advise anything for what's already been done about your coverage, but I would recommend that you IMMEDIATELY terminate your Medicare coverage and get back on tricare prime which covers you at 100% for everything.

It might be worth your while to go to the local DSHS office and apply for medicare, see if you can get any coverage for your 25%. See if you qualify for the "spenddown" if you are over income for any of their basic programs. They do go 3 months retroactively for bills, so if you can qualify somehow, this program will be of use to you.

Also look into the military's "program for people with disabilities" (your local tricare office should have info on how it works/how to apply), I don't know if they have any retroactive coverage, but if they do it might help you.
