Soo, Maggie has been having alot of upset tummys the past month; nausea, reflux. No vomiting. She has been growing like crazy; so I thought maybe her enzymes needed to be upped or something. At her Cf appointment we met with the nutritionist, and she asked if Maggie drank alot of juice and she does. The nutritionist said that at the CF conference, a GI CF doc said CF kids or all kids for that matter should cut way back on the juice they drink..He said there is so much corn syrup in the juice it affects the way the enzymes work and increases the stomache acid; which also affects enzymes. She wants Maggie to only drink 1/2 cup juice a day; the rest should be water or milk.. So I said I'ld give it a try...Her upset tummys have been less. Though it's only been a few days..She also has been pooping a ton, but I think she has been on the constipated side(I still think she needs her enzymes upped a little) but I'm all for cutting down on the juice. Maggie has been drinking more milk, even Activia drinkable yogurts instead..water and more than just 1/2 cup a day juice but alot less than before. They also have milk in "juice boxes" I've noticed and bought for school lunch which tastes like milk according to Maggie.

Interesting. I usually have only purchased white grape juice -- higher calories and 100% juice. Ever since I heard juice can lead to childhood obesity. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I usually don't buy the juice cocktails.

DS DOES and always has eaten a lot of fruit snacks, which are high in high fructose corn syrup, but he hasn't ever had issues with stomach upset with those. Just other things.

I have used the milk that can sit on the shelf for travel before. For cold lunch I just use a thermos and add whole milk. Walmart also has quart containers of whole milk that doesn't have to be refrigerated. I usually keep a container of that at my inlaws since they only drink skim milk.

i diluate aj's juice no matter what and he doesn't have cf. if you look at the sugar content on 99% of the juices they are about 25g. i even have steered away from apple juices and such. switched him to white cranberry, white cranberry with strawberry, and white cranberry with peach. i switched him to those because they are less likely to stain, minus the strawberry one. my ped told me to watch the sugars. but the only way aj will drink milk is if there is chocolate in it and he won't drink water. so i just mix it about half and half on the juice.
