Anyone Like Oprah?

I can't believe how awesome she is. I have Tivo so I get to see her shows often and have been amazed at what she's done for huricane survivors! It's it awesome? The mere influencial power she has throughout the world because of how many people watch her shows. She's like one media all to herself.

What I like about Oprah is that after all these years she still connects with the people. She hasnt forgotten her roots or the hell that she has been thru which makes it easy for her to be truly compassionate. She is not perfect & as far as I have seen will admit that. I feel she has definitely earned the respect she has received.

I wrote Oprah a letter about Cystic Fibrosis about 2 years ago. I tied in the 65 roses theme and how we as a family were coping with the diagnosis. I just wanted to see if she was interested, but I am sure she has to filter through ALOT of emails. Maybe one day she will do a show about CF. We have since moved & changed our email address to the military change of station, so I don't know if she has responded. Maybe I write another one...

I always thought that she should do one of her "My favorite things" episodes and invite people with CF, or another terminal disease that does not get a lot of attention. She has had teachers, military wives, and i feel we deserve it as well. and it would be a great way to get the word out.

Good luck. I have tried various times all with different ways of describing cf and how it affects people of all races even. I know many other people who have also tried. One lady got one of those generic responses that said something like we cant help you at this time. Everyone else never even got a generic response. But maybe someone will say something that will strike a cord.

Yes, keep trying. Maybe we could all write a letter once a year to her about it. I've been amazed at how much world wide publicity her show has. She's truly like her own media form. Soooooo many people watch her and then actually step up and do whatever it is she asks of them. It's awesome!

I love Oprah - don't get too many chances to watch her though. I do receive her magazine. I think that's a great idea about having her do a show on CF.

Love Love Love her!
Yeah she's conceited, yeah she's too rich for her own good. (that's always my hubby's argument) But-I love her and she's giving of herself, her time and money. I seriously view her as kind of supplemental to my therapy. Between therapy sessions she has gotten me by, through my week, when I was at my worst.
And besides the tough or heartwarming shows....isn't she great to just watch with your girlfriends and laugh?!

i used to hate oprah but now i think she's okay. i like how
she balances her format with both serious and more up-beat topics.
my mom recently had a big break through about herself from
watching the oprah show -- go figure!

anyway, of course i think she should do a show on CF. but i
wanted to say that i know when allan was fighting for his
transplant -- a cut & dry case of how f****d up our system is
-- he wrote to her. and so did several other people on his
behalf. she did not respond. i am sure she gets about a
billion requests for things. personally, i think a story like
allan's is very rare and i wish she would have taken the
opportunity to publicize it so that he might have been helped and
so that others would not have to suffer if they came up against
what he did.
Last year about 25-50 of us wrote letters to Oprah about Cystic fibrosis. I agree, she must have millions of letters to filter through, but I don't believe anyone heard back from her. I think persistence is definately the key though!!!! Anyone want to do CF awareness campagine (did I spell that right???) 2006?? I already have a "draft" letter that can be modified and changed as you wish, but gives a starting point.

Hi all,

How's things going with writing a letter to Oprah, in regards to CF recognition and fundraising.
I think we all need to keep trying either writing letters or sending emails, untill we get a responce.
Don't give up guy's.
