Anyone on a PPI?

<br>Hi all,I was looking at some older posts about weight gain issues, and enzyme effectivness. Is anyone taking (or are their kids taking) a PPI? Prilosec or a generic?? We were having troble getting Danika's enzyme dosage right, and were still having lots of unhealthy poops. We brought this up to our doc, and they gave us the PPI. It seams to be very effective and relatively minor compared to all the other meds she's on right now... tobi, saline, azithromycin, DNAse, albuterol, AND flovent. Anyways... since we started that, she's gained 3 pounds!! It reduces the ammount of stomach acid and slowing down the process of the enzyme breakdown.

My daughter has been on Prevacid since she was diagnosed 7 years ago. The docs tell us that it helps her enzymes work better. Haven't really researched it and I guess I assumed it was standard?

DD was on Zantac as an infant due to reflux. She hasn't been on them since under a year old and is now 3.5 yrs old. I do know that many, if not 'most', CFers are on some sort of PPI to help with enzyme efficacy. I think Zenpep has helped in not needing a PPI....

ok. i was just wondering because it was kind of an after thought by the doctor... I just didn't know if it was common or not. I can definately tell the difference!!
