Anyone on the pill for the non-contraceptive benefits. Wards against certain cancers, helps bone mass, regulate flow, help with acne etc.

I am on the patch now, but took the pill for 5 years in high school and after. I would get cramps that could take down an elephant - along with vomiting nausea, headaches, weakness, back pain and so on. I too had extremely long periods (15-20days) when I first started my cycle luckily that evened out after a few years. The pill worked wonders minimalized cramps and seriously regulated my cycle.

The patch isn't bad - my cycle is regulated, but I have more break through bleeding/spotting and get pretty bad cramps for a day during my period. Whereas with the pill I had no cramping at all really. I compromise though because it is one less pill I have to take daily - just change the patch every week.

Sorry if that was an over share or anything.

Giggles,
I'm not sure if you just wanted replies from others w/ CF (I'm just a mom), but I started taking the pill due to endometriosis (among other things).

Sorry if I'm no help <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am on it. I have been for about 3 years now. I started it to help
regulate my periods and my horribly oily skin. So, yeah..so far so
good. I'm on Yasmin.

I am on it for contraceptive, but does this happen to anyone else??? In about the middle of the mth, i get very dry down there and very itchy almost like a yeast infection but it last for like 2-3 day, with a little clumpy discharge that doesn't have an odor at all. i don't know if its from the pill I take which is ortho tri cyclen low. any ideas. I havn't had time to get to the doctor and keep forgetting to call.

Chantel, Yasmin increases the excretion of sodium (& potassium). It is a popular pill because of this - less bloating & weight gain. But it may not be so great for women with CF.
from the Yasmin web page (<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.yasmin-us.com/resourcelibrary_1.htm):">http://www.yasmin-us.com/resourcelibrary_1.htm):</a> While drospirenone increases sodium and water excretion, it does not promote potassium loss.
Lindsey, there is concern about the increased levels of circulating estrogen with the patch leading to greater risk of blood clots and strokes. The researchers are still working on it. I work in family planning - the nurse practitioners really like the Nuva Ring; and it bypasses the liver and they have seen good effects on the vagina with it as well.

Hi I was on it to regulate my flow when I was a teenager. It worked while I was on it but once I got off and started having children I went back to having abnormal flowing again!
