Anyone use a maid?

I was curious of many of you hire cleaning services. I feel like I either never have time to clean or never feel good enough to clean.

When I get disability I am thinking about hiring a cleaning service. Do any places offer discounts for the disabled?

That's a really good idea... my place is so messy and dusty and I never get around to cleaning... and even when I do, I don't want to be the one stirring up all the dust...

I would love a maid! I actually really like cleaning--the high I get from emptying a full vacuum canister and knowing that gunk is no longer in my carpet, I imagine, is similar to the high a cocaine addict gets from snorting six lines of cocaine-- but, I feel like I can never find the time anymore!

We have used a couple of different cleaning services. I currently have someone in our home 15 hrs/week to clean and do laundry. Both my husband and I work. We used a company prior to hiring Natalie that was good and used organic products--maid brigade. No overwhelming and irritating chemical smells.

i use a cleaning service from time to time, esp when i'm sick.
i put it off for so long bc i felt soooo guilty. i came from a 'wonder mom' that did IT ALL. (baked everything from scratch, did my chest pt, read everynight to us, milked a cow, all while having a spotless home and being a size 4...yeah, makes you cringe, right?!)
but the bottom line is, life is at a totally different pace now. if you can afford it, and aren't going into debt for it-you have every right to get help.
this past year i put every ounce of my being into 1. my daughter, and 2. improving my health. i didn't want to be exposed to the odors of cleaning products anymore, and i wanted the whole of the house to be regulalrly dusted out. they take a hepa filter and dust every surface-even the walls and filter the mattresses.
we have budgeted cash aside for me to get cleanings every couple months. i do weekly maintenance cleaning and they do a major cleaning every 6-8 weeks.
i figure it this way- it takes 4 people 3 hours to clean and hepa filter my home. that means it would take me 12 straight hours..but at a pace that i physically don't have the stamina for.
you know what, i would have paid for my mom to have a maid if i could have-she would have deserved it. i think i do too.

I have a lady come clean every 2 weeks. She's usually here for about 2 hours or so. She cleans all the floors (I now have bamboo, tile and carpet), dusts, cleans the bathrooms, cleans the kitchen and straightens up any clutter/toy messes. She's her own business, not employed by a maid company. Personally I prefer to hire someone who is their own employer rather than a company because I know I'll be getting the same person every time and we now know her very well and consider her a friend of the family. I've used her for 6 or 7 years now. I think she's a great investment. I try to keep up the hard floors by using my microfiber broom every few days (I have dogs and cats that track in a lot of dirt) but other than cleaning any obvious mess I don't really do any other cleaning.

As for discounts for the disabled, you'd just have to call around and ask.
