Last year my doctor had diagnosed me as being "diabetic" based on an accu-check done in his office which was 311. My personal opinion on that is that their machine was out of whack. He was ready right then and there to get me started on insulin, which I did not do. I haven't had the fasting blood test or glucose blood test done (although they keep pushing me to get it done). After that, I got a glucose monitor to use at home to monitor my levels. Most of my levels were, and still are, within normal range with a few that were a little over the normal high and few that were below the low normal. I have never had even one over 200 since I have been doing them at home. Lately, my blood sugar seems to run on the low side. I had one day a few weeks ago that my level was 39 (and I was feeling the effects of it). I always try to make sure I have crackers in my purse. He has since listed me as being pre-diabetic and I'm not on insulin. Anyway, long story short, I am more convinced that I have hypoglycemic and not hyperglycemic (but that's just my humble opinion - I'm no doctor).
