I also work out 5-6 days a week. Ran competitively in college - 4:34 mile, 55:26 15k, etc.... Currently run and bike a lot, and am getting ready for a marathon next spring.

I have a masters degree in public policy, am engaged, work full time, etc. etc. I miss the student schedule... I'm usually to bed around 11 and up at 6:30 for PT and meds. Work 9-5:30, workout from 5:30-7:00, dinner, meds, relax, bed.

CF hasn't really stopped me from doing what I've wanted, but I definately haven't been able to do everything! I can't run!!!!!!!!!! I guess that's the biggest thing I've always wanted to just run. Other than that I'm married and am a cosmetologist and hope to be a mom soon.

Hey there rock on!! You are really pushing yourself and keeping up with the CF part of it. Sounds like you are doing very well..do you ever need to get IV's to treat infections?? Keep up the good work. I would do triathalons but I hate swimming. A duathalon is more my speed.

I am 24 with CF and consider myself very lucky to be able to do what I do.
-Right now I work 30+ hours a week.
-Play drums in my band. We play shows about once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. We have recorded 6 songs.
-Last month I started to train for a 10K that I'll run on Thanksgiving..there is a schedule that I've been working with.Run 3 days a week, strenth and strech the other 3 and rest 1day.
- Just sigend up for the 5K part of the Detroit Marathon for Oct 29th.
- Outside of my real job I spend hours each day working on my huge rock and roll benefit that happens every year in the winter.
- I sit on the Great Strides comittee..maybe even 2 this year..geesh
- I also find time to hang out with my GREAT friends and family and go to rock and roll shows with them...
- Most importantly I take every opportunity to make people aware of what CF is and how we can cure it.
-Never miss my treatments and get "tuned up" about twice a year..even when I'm in the hospital I can still escape a few hours to play shows with my band haha.

Every day is a good day.
ROCK CF!

I work out 7 days a week, sometimes twice a day. I run 2-3 days a week, the rest of the week I lift weights. I ran in the Philly Half Marathon a month ago and plan on running in another next month but I am not sure if I should because it will be really cold. Anyone know if that is healthy?

I do my meds twice a day and the vest once. I never think about having CF, I am very fortunate to have a very mild form even though I was diagnosed at birth. I plan on living till I am atleast 60. I am currently saving up for children, because I know I am sterile. Although, I am hoping to get a job in NJ and have the insurance cover the IVF and Sperm Retreval. Anyone know about NJ and their Family Building Law?

Great post. CF is what keeps me going. I haven't seen a cf doc in 7 years, and just went back last month (fev1's were 48%, but will be coming up). I hike 15-18.5 miles atleast once a month, and I am alwasy outside hunting, hiking, fishing, trapping, or just for a walk taking pictures. FU2CF! LOL that would make a good custom liscence plate. I'm not an athelete, but i definatle get it. I used to run track, but take more to the outdoors. LOL hell yeah!, I have been thinking about posting this for a while. Thank you!

Good job. You should be fine in the cold, though you might want to consult your doctor and use a puff or two of albuterol.

Yes I am. I decided to get my pfts up to a certain point-I call the baby zone-and stay there. I worked for over 2 years with nutrition and exercise and a new therapy routine, and I reached my goal FEV1 (75). I went to a bunch of specialists for tests, checkups, and got the 'ok' from my care team to go ahead and try for a baby. And now that's where we are.
