Astelin nasal spray & allergy testing

i am on a lot of allergy medicine but still having some allergy symptoms so my dr. recommended this nasal spray. i am not really having sneezing or congestion in my nose, but he thought it might help my eyes also. anyone tried this? i've never heard of it.

also, have any of you been allergy tested? i'm thinking of asking my dr. to set this up for me so i have more information about what irritates me.

astelin will not help your ocular allergy symptoms. There are allergy eye drops that you can use for that.

what allergy meds are you on? you may still be having symptoms because you are on an inferior allergy medication such as claritin or clarinex.

astelin is an anti-histamine just like zyrtec, allegra and claritin. but it's a nose spray. it has a high headache rate because there is a good amount of alcohol in it. personally, i think it's a useless product.

Intranasal steroids are a good option to control allergy symptoms as well. most allergists (general practitioners are useless when it comes to treating allergies because they are not up on the latest information....they are jacks of all trades) will treat with an anti-histamine combined with an intranasal steroid.

allergy testing is essential to allergy control. instead of just popping a pill, allergy avoidence is key. and you can't avoid allergens unless you know what you're allergic too.

make sure you don't just get an IgE test... get a skin test for environmental as well as food allergies.

But if it is your eyes that are giving you problems and not your nose, I dont think Astelin will help you. You may want to look into the eye drops. Do u wear contacts?
