ugh, shocks up and down your back sounds awful! The article I read about gallbladder attacks yesterday said that the pain is so awful, people often opt for the surgery after one experience. Good luck with the surgery.
I've read about costochondritis before...what I have sounds similar, but it is not ever in the sternum area, and the location varies with exacerbations...but then corresponds to areas of infiltrates on x-rays...e.g. lingula=pain under left breast and into tip of shoulder (not blade, but corner of torso), lower left lobe=pain under left ribs, well below breast.
