Welcome to the forums and I am very pleased to hear how well your are doing. By the way, are you on cipro all of the time? I have never heard of that for someone as healthy as you are.

The production is widely varying from person to person as mentioned and there is a big difference in the amounts people are able to get out. I think the production depends in large part on what you culture and how much inflammation you have in your lungs.

I culture mucoid PA. When I am at my baseline (my new baseline this year) I don't think that I get up even a 1/4 cup and I am able to get up most of mine at least I think because I can stay at my baseline for long periods of time and my lungs sound clear even by the docs examination. My mucous production has also been greatly decreased since I started taking xolair which reduces IGE levels and thus inflammation, it is a treatment for allergic asthma but I started taking it to treat my ABPA (allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis i.e. severe mold allergies/sensitivity.

I colonize Pseudomonas, and I am one of those that cough up probably at least a cup a day. My mucus has always come up fairly easy, though, so maybe I'm just able to get out what others cant. And I always try to get it out no matter where I'm at. If I'm in the car with no tissue I'll spit out the window, I'll spit in bushes if I"m in public. I don't care what people think- I'd rather have it in a bush than in my body!

Lindsey,

Your post cracked me up. You are so pretty and dainty looking. It is hard for me to picture you horking up a phlegm wad into a bush!!!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

You are right though--it doesn't matter what people think. Better to get rid of it. I need to heed that advice. I am always so self conscious about my cough, etc.
