My son was put on azithromycin Mon, Wed, Fri. He can't swallow pills yet, so I have to go pick up a new bottle every 10 days, is it just our pharmacy? We've had meds before that only last one month in the fridge, but I guess this can't be refrigerated?

What we did with Keflex and with zithromax was to have the pharmacy give us a 1 month supply of the bottles NOT mixed up. So bottles with powder in them. Then every 10-14 days, depending upon the shelf life of the suspension, I would add the amount of water indicated on the side of the bottle. Otherwise I'd be running to the pharmacy every week to 10 day AND paying a copay each time.

Also, if it's put in the fridge it gets really really thick and sticky!

We did what Liza does - got a month's supply of the non-constituted bottles at a time. Also, our pharmacy gave us syringes of sterile water with the proper ml's to add to each bottle of powder when it was time. We did not refrigerate the zithro.

DD has finally made it to the tablets for her zithro so that is a now distant (pain-in-the-rear) memory for us and it will be for you, too, someday so hang on!

I take Azithromycin Suspension Mon, Wed, and Friday as well. I pay for a month supply of medication. The pharmacy holds on to my month supply of Azithromycin. Every 10 days I go to the pharmacy to pick up a new bottle. This system has worked well for me.
