You will find all the information you need here including criteria to qualify and participating centers. I strongly encourage anyone who feels they may be able to participate to contact the center closest to you. It is well worth the drive.

I'm confused? Why can't you just get on it? Is aztreonam more than just IV? The reason I ask is b/c I just got admitted to the hospital and my doc put me on IV aztreonam, but she did mention something about it not being avaible for a few months but never told me the reason.

There is a new study drug called Aztreanam Lysine for inhalation. Gilead Science has been attempting to get it FDA approved and has run into a few snags. It is the same antibiotic as what we have seen via IV; however, it is obviously in a different form for inhalation. It is also delivered via e-flow which gives a much higher concentration of the drug directly into the lungs.

The expanded access program is being offered and, if you qualify, you will receive the drug and the e-flow at no cost. You have to meet certain criteria as well as find a center participating that is a reasonable drive for you. I encourage you to check out the website.

There has been a back order on IV aztreanam for quite some time. I am not sure why that has been happening.
