My mom and I found out yesterday that one of our familys babys died of a lung infection he was only 15 mouths old! He had CF and is in my moms family. He was a very sick little boy. This was back in 1962 or so.

Both my grandmother and my greatgrandmother had babies that died between 1 and 2 yrs old, this was in the 1930s, and the 1940s. At the time, the doctors didn't know why, and on the death certificates it said failure to thrive.
Now it makes sense-the symptoms were all there.

My aunt on my dad's side of the family died at the age of 2 years old from horrible lung infections, it is not suspected that she had CF..

My mom's brother died at the age of 2. His death certificate said it was from a spastic colon?! It still makes me wonder...

My mom's dad's brother died between 1-2 yrs old, never diagnosed as CF, but we believe he had it. We don't know of anyone else on my side that could of had it. Weird thing is there were 10 kids in their family and he was the only one affected.
