Baby Food Question

Okay so my hubby and I are having a difference of opinion and I am asking how you all dealt with this...
Our 14 month old is still eating baby food for all her meals. We give her table food when we sit down and she self feeds but then she still wants "her" food after. I give her lots of snacks during the day and she will self feed for those also. I haven't really been forcing food food for meals b/c I'm just so thankful that she's getting all the calories and nutrition.
So I guess the question is when did you stop the baby food and rely totally on food food for your CFers' nutrition, calories and fat?

Hi Carrie,

My little guy is just 15 months, so I'm no expert. I would be thrilled if he still liked his baby food. The only one he really likes is the Banana Yougert Desert/Dutch Applesauce..So, those are the only 2 I get in him. I would keep letting her have both....Just offer her lots of fun, and yummy finger foods. Once she is a stronger eater, you can cut out the baby foods. But, I for one think it's great any food you can get in them at this age. Lot's of Luck

Max is the same age as Cammie (born 9/26/07) and it sounds like I am feeding him the same. He'll eat breakfast foods well on his own (usually a frozen blueberry pancake w/ butter & cut up fruit), but the other meals he struggles, so if he didn't eat well, I'll supplement with bottled baby food (I think that my daughter was switched over by 10 months ... argh). The nice thing about the baby food is that you don't have to guess the nutrition content & it's highly portable! I guess it'd be a good question for the Dr., but similar to the bottle question circulating, we, as mother's to cf children have bigger battles to fight.

I gave my daughter baby food until she was about 18 months. I liked being in control of what she ate. What I found though, was it would have been better to focus on allowing her to feed herself from an early age. She might be the exception here, but we still often need to put the food in her mouth because she has little interest in eating. My son started screaming when I tried to give him baby food when he was around 10 months old. He wanted the table foods I was giving my daughter. While it was stressful to watch a lot of it go to the floor, etc. it did enable him to be a good self feeder which is sooo important with these guys. So as long as you give her plenty of opportunites to feed herself during the day, I wouldn't think it would matter to some baby food after a meal.
