Regular contraction started around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. At 11:00 a.m. I called my OB and told her the contractions started at 7:00 a.m., 6-7 minutes apart and about 40 seconds long. She had me come right in rather than wait for my 1:00 appointment.
We got to the office at 12:00 and I was 4 cm. OB said go right to the hospital they were expecting us. We got to the hospital and whisked right to our room. Got settled and checked at 1:00 - 6 cm. They started IV fluids. I thought I wanted an epi but had the nurse refresh my memory on the stages of labor. Once I realized I was 6 - probably through the worst of it since I was getting a good 5 minute break between the contractions I decided against the epi. I got one dose of Nubain which allowed me to feel every contraction, labor through but experience some relaxation in-between. OB came in at 3:30 and checked me, 8 cm but stretching to 10 with contractions. Broke my water and there was meconium so NICU was called. Once everyone was there I was having the urge to push. 2 practice pushes and 2 real pushes later Hannah entered the world at 4:09 p.m. It was an amazing experience and I am still amazed by my body! Hannah checked out perfect and was able to stay in the room with us the entire stay. She took to breastfeed like a champ. What a difference between a baby born at 34 weeks and a baby born at 38 weeks. The last 4 weeks of my pregnancy were SO HARD on me but now I see the pay off.
Alexa met her baby sister yesterday and things are going great. She walked right in the hospital room and asked for Baby Hannah. It melts my heart to see them together. I am sure we will have some rough spots but so far so good!
Thank you again for all of the love and support you have given me through the pregnancy and arrival of Hannah.
I cannot even begin to count all of the blessing in my life.
