baby night time tummy pains

My three month old has been having some digestive issues,
and we have been working with the cf dr to correct them.
They just upped his creon 5 to a full capsule. At night
he usually goes to bed around 9:30 and is up again between 1a.m.
and 3a.m. to eat. Usually he goes back down no problem after
his feeding. Here in the last couple of days I feed him and
lay him back down and he grunts and scrunches and kicks like he is
in discomfort. He wants to sleep because his eyes are closed
but he can't. The rest of the day he is fine. No
discomfort at all. Do you think maybe it is because he does
not eat for such a long period and his tummy is empty? He
usually eats every two hours during the day.

Our son does the same thing but at nap time. It seems to be
mainly gas pains with him as far as we can tell. Sometimes
though, it's because he needs to burp again. Not really sure
if this helps and I'm sure you have already thought of
those but seems to be the problem here.

We also push his little legs up against his tummy, seems to help
relieve some of the discomfort and pressure.
Our son had issues with reflux and a horrible burper -- could never ever get him to burp. We raised the end of his crib mattress a bit to elevate his head. He was also prescribed zantac to reduce the acid in his tummy. Several cfers have reflux issues and are on different meds for it. DS seemed to have outgrown his. Liza aka ratatosk mom to a toddler wcf

As Liz mentioned, reflux could also be the problem. Didn't
even think of suggesting that in my previous post. Our son
also battles reflux, he takes AXID and Reglan for relief.
They put him on .06 ml of zantac when he was a month old, and that
help with the vomiting, and a little of the gas. Maybe we
need to try one of the other reflux meds. He goes to clinic
on the 10th, so I can ask. Thanks.
My daughter Hannah had horrible reflux. (My older daughter Kayla had terrible tummy aches, and we used a lot of the Mylicon drops, but we didn't know she had CF at the time. Apparantly she needed more, but we didn't know what was going on) Anyways, she was on Zantac, but a high dosage. I don't remember how much, but I do remember the pharmacist commenting about the dosage. Her reflux was just so bad. We even tried other types of reflux meds. But, 7 years later, I don't recall which ones. I would give clinic a call if he is that miserable. They should be able to give more advice. With my older daughter, she was having bad tummy aches this past spring, and we ended up giving her a dose of Prilosec in the am, and one in the pm. Tummy aches were gone after that. It seems that they just wouldn't last long enough to help her through 24 hours until the next dosage. Hope he starts feeling better.
