I have just seen one of the doctors in my peds CF clinic. He was giving a class to medical students and he asked me to tell my story. This was this morning.
But anyway. We talked a little about Hypertonic Saline and he said he also gives it to children whom get sick a lot because of lack of the little hairs in your airways (don't know the name in English, sorry) that help you clear out mucus.

My granddaughter also nebs HS twice a day. She's almost 8 months and doing very well, she has had 2 colds so far, but she seems fine with the HS.

Marjolein - you're referring to primary ciliary dyskinesia, also sometimes known as Kartagener's Disease (assuming there's reversal of organs) or immotile cilia. They use a lot of the same meds as CF patients.

Thanks everyone! I knew I would find great advice here It's a relief to also know that the meds may not be bad for her, although I would feel better if she were checked out by a pulmunologist.

Nightwriter, I love your car analogy- it's exactly how I feel. It's very frustrating for me to worry about my cousin, and then also worry about my boyfriend being around her, especially with all the family time over the holidays. I plan to stay away from her (which is sad as she is the cutest baby) and bring a lot of hand sanitizer for the rest of my family.

Thanks for your help!!
