Bactrim DS

About a week ago I started taking Bactrim DS, for Staph infection in my lungs. They put me on a higher dose than I normally get- 2 pills twice a day. The second day into taking this, I started to become achy, achy like a flu or something (back, neck, arms, hips, etc.) This has since only gotten worse. I am in a fair amount of pain when I move now, and I have not done anything out of the ordinary to induce this type of muscle pain. Do you think it is an allergic reaction to the drug? Any other ideas on what it could be? I am feeling fine other than this.

I haven't been on bactrim DS for a LONG time, but I seem to remember having muscle aches when starting a new course of it. I also seem to remember the muscle aches not lasting too long once starting it...maybe just a couple weeks.

Thank you for the replies! Called the doc today and yes it is a side effect...and I was pretty much told to suck it up, that it will subside! Hoping and praying that it will subside soon! I feel like an elderly woman right now!
