BAD BREATH

I was wondering how many of you have a problem with bad breath, or at least notice that you have bad breath almost all the time. I've been noticing me having bad breath, if I cant taste the bad breath than my husband always tells me I have bad breath by telling me to brush my teeth.

I looked it up yesterday on what causes bad breath and this is what it said: respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia or bronchitis, chronic sinus infections, postnasal drip, diabetes, chronic acid reflux, liver or kidney problems, bad oral hygiene, and of course the obvious one is what you eat.

Thats what made me wonder if anyone of you ever notice having bad breath.

One other thing, is any of you guys have white stuff on your tongues? The reason I ask is because I have white on mine and in the middle of the tongue it is red or pinkish, the actual color of the tongue, and in the very back is a darker white, very hard to come off, and I figured it was from antibiotcs or something, but thought maybe yours might be like that too.

do you use an MDI? you may have thrush if you don't rinse out your mouth after using your MDI. that would give you gnarley breath for sure....

I use Advair, that gives thrush, but Im pretty sure that i dont have thrush, because i have had thrush before and it got all over my mouth, and it would scrape off real easily too, but this really doesnt scrape off easily, I think that maybe if I buy some tongue cleaning stuff, if that will help. I did read somewhere that it could be dead tongue cells. I m not sure, but I think its unattractive.

I am always paranoid of this. I am always asking Kurt or my mom if my breath stinks lol. I can't smell so I think that makes me even more paranoid about it.

I will say that I get a funky taste in my mouth and when I eat when I am sick. I usually ask more often when I am sick if my breath stinks. They always tell me know, but I brush my teeth probably 4 times a day when I am sick.

As for the white stuff on your tongue. I have that pretty much all the time towards the back of my tongue - NOT all over just towards the back. The doc never seems to think anything of it - when I have thrush I tend to get that whtie junk ALL over my tongue and it is accompanied with a god awful taste and sore throat and most often I lose my voice too. The only thing I will say is that with thrush - for me - I can NEVER brush that stuff off my tongue. I am usually able to brush my tongue and remove some of the white stuff that is on there when I don't have thrush though (given that I don't gag myself with the toothbrush lol.

The only time Kurt every really makes a comment about my breath is when I have just finished my neb treatments. He always looks at me and says ... you are gonna go brush your teeth right. lol He doesn't even wait for me to get out of the chair good before he asks. He hates the smell of the meds.

Take Care,
Lindsey

I notice a weird taste in my mouth when I have a sinus/lung infection. Amy is right though, When I had thrush I had bad breathe and white on my tongue. Its easy to get rid of though, Just some prescibed mouth wash, or try eating a yogart every morning. The yogart helps restore natural bacteria.

YES!!!!
My hubby is always trying to say nicely-ummm, sweetie did you brush your teeth yet?
I think its related to my gastro problems. Its just a theory, but I have acid relflux and then combined with the digestive issues, to me it makes sense. I mean, not to be gross but when you burp or fart it smells, right? I think its stomach related too.

And for me, its not meds b/c I'm not on anything that causes thrush. But its annoying and brushing my teeth doesn't do anything. It comes back within 20 mins.

It makes sense with lung problems..i mean there is a lot of funky stuff growing down there, and you can't help but wonder what kinda odours it makes

Try a toothpaste with antibacterial properties...like colgate total. That kept my breath super fresh. That pretty much fixed it for me. My um...friend that's a girl always says my breath is bad in the morning...when everything is stagnant and just sits there. Kinda gross...ya...but what can you do
