Hi everyone,

I am pretty disappointed. I have been on IV's (Ceftaz, Tobra and Vanc) for the last two weeks AND Levaquin for a week prior, and Zyvox two weeks. My PFT's are even lower than before all of these meds. I am at a loss. I am frustrated, angry, sad. Over the last umpteen years, I have held steady in the mid to upper 80's (sometimes hitting in the 90s). That was probably since I started the AZLI study (back in 05). I know before the study I was in the 70's because to make it in the study you had to be 75 and I just made the cutoff. So currently, before I started all these meds, I was 79, that was 6 weeks ago and that was the highest I could get, I blew 3 times and was mostly closer to 76-77. Yesterday I blew 5 times and only hit 77...once...those numbers were closer to 74-75 majority of the time. The problem is I FEEL great! I felt better right away on IV's, my cough was less, I had more energy (was tired from treatments, but in general better). I was happier...and even 6 weeks ago, I was shocked at my PFT's, so yesterday was complete shock!

I am now going on Tobi and Voriconazole to see if that helps and go back to the Dr in a month. Does anyone have any ideas? Any tips? I know I need to start exercising (which I had started before IV's, but Ive been so tired I haven't had time to do that). What are your tips for starting a program? Any other ideas on what could be the problem? I don't think its blood sugar...but if my PFTs are still down in a month, I may reconsider that thought.

Please give me some encouragement! I would love to get my numbers back up, I don't want this to be permanent...<img title="Cry" src="include/wysiwyg/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-cry.gif" alt="Cry" border="0" />

That is so frustrating : ( I've had some PFT's before when I felt great and thought I would do well, but I had so much air trapping, inflammation, and bronchospasms going on that it totally compromised the overall values. I think the key is, you just gotta get some aerobic exercise, tired or not. If you can do a nebbie WHILE exercising, all the better. The meds definitely penetrate more, at least for me, and I clear my lungs out much better. Are you taking meds to control inflammation? *hugs your way*
