Bad memory

I was wondering if anyone else has bad memory? I used to have a really good memory but as of the last year i cant even remember what i did five minites ago i'm thinking that this might be from the CF considering i'm workin on 36 percent lung function and the oxygen to the brain thing. But i'm not really sure because my pulseox's always read about 98 so its not that bad. Just want to know if anyone else is going though it too. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

I absolutely believe its linked. When my health is not at its best, I cant remember squat. When I was the sickest in my life back in 1/2000 (granted I was running 104 fever), but I dont remember a lot of the month previous. That includes paying the bills for our household. My poor husband had to try & figure things out as the checks bounced. I would pay bills & not put the checks in the ledger. He would ask me about things & I would have no idea. Thankfully that passed, but it was scary. What if I didnt have him to figure things out?! What if I lost the house or had my electric shut off etc all because I was in no frame of mind to be dealing with finances. I also see the affects with my daughter. If I am not feeling well, I will ask things about school 15 times & being that she isnt quite 5 she gets irritated. I just tell her that Mommy's brain doesnt want to work right today. It only makes sense that if oxygen isnt flowing properly or your body isnt running smoothly that something will be affected. I dont believe you are alone, but it can get frustrating & sometimes down right scary.

I have a hard time concentrating when I get sick, and it is because of a few things. One reason is that I am sick and quite tired, it's hard to function when you aren't getting enough oxygen. I'm not sure what part the drugs play, but the wreak enough havoc on the rest of the body that it wouldn't surprise me if the affected memory. The biggest thing that changes my ability to concentrate is the anxiety that being sick causes. No matter how hard I try to stay happy and positive when I am sick, my anxieties still creep up on me. I'll be reading and I have to go back and read a bunch of stuff because I was worrying too much the first time I read it! The more people I get to know with cf, the more I realise that anxiety and depression is a problem for a lot of cfers. I'm not saying that everyone is depressed, I am just sharing my own personal experiences.

I have many "episodes" of memory loss. Mainly short term ei: names, dates, instructions...you name it. for example while looking for apartments my friend would tell me the house number and I would have to ask a million times over. It's almost reassuring I'm not going "crazy" and it may be due to lack of oxygen.

for the last 3 yrs i've been struggling with severe joint pain w/rash. It was so bad at times i couldnt bare to walk. After throwing a fit and persisting that there was something wrong my docs found that there is a arthritis that dosent follow the roles of typical arthritis conditions however they have a name for it and i dont remember it. About 1 percent of CF patients have this serever arthritis. This arthritis is so complicated that typical treatments dont often work. As for me after trying many different medications i was put on celebrex and it helped but not compleatly well they uped my dose to 400mg of celebrex which has seem to help alot although i still have the occasional stiffness and soreness but it is much more bareable. Usually some advil and rest takes care of it. If u have anymore question just ask. Hope this helps ya. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
