Bad taste and smell

For over a week, I have had a bad taste in my mouth (especially when I cough up stuff...) and a bad smell in my nose. I know it probably sounds wierd but I'm guessing it's a cf thing. I've had it before but it went away after a few weeks. Does anybody else get this or does anybody know what the cause is or how to get rid of it?

I get it when I have lung infections too, although I think in that case the smell is external (i.e., I'm smelling the mucus I've coughed up, not smelling what's already in my nose). The taste is awful though and I think is a large part of why I lose my appetite when I get sick -- just too gross to eat with that lingering taste. I would call your doc for sure.

In the meantime, I find mint gum or breathmints like certs work pretty well to clear out the taste without leaving a sticky sweet taste in your mouth all the time.
