Being Risky Because of CF

I think there are lots of things we don't do that a "normal" person can do. Like move at a moment's notice or feeling...we'd have to look for a CF clinic and make sure there is a place we can get care.
We can't just decide one day that we want to go join the peace corps or fly to south america and help kids with cleft palets.
I know there are lots of things that CF has prevented me from doing but it's also shined a whole different light on things that other people don't get.

I guess what I mean is I try hardet to be as capable or more so than others. I ride faster and bomb through all the mud holes on my four-wheeler. I go camping, regardless of the weather, because I want to be like everyone else. I have kids because I want them regardless of the advice of my doctors. I go tanning even with the worry of skin cancer because I've already got CF. I don't save for retirement, because I don't know if I'll retire, so I live for the moment. I'm sure there are many other risky things I do, as well.

It's true, Monique doesn't care how fast she rides her hores(it scares me), and Reach for a Dream gave her an oppertunity to ride in a racing car and she loved it. The people from Reach for a Dream told me that they many people they meet with life theatening illnesses are not scared to die and therefore are not scared to take risks

I actually think I disagree, to an extent. Before having my daughter, I was definitely a risk taker. Now my husband always says I'm "too careful".
Because I know my time here may be limited, I treasure it. I try to take care of myself to the best of my ability in hopes that it will prolong the time I'll have with my family.
I'm not sure if that's related to CF or if it simply comes along with parenthood...
