Bemis 697 400

I have a friend who's an RN; and knows quite a bit about CF; offering me a Bemis 697 400 for $50. I've Googled it, but can't find much more then the normal specs. Has anyone here every heard of it? It's coming from a non CF family; and I know it's been well maintained, so I'm not really worried about cross contamination, but is there anything else I should be worried about? She says it comes with a water sanitizing solution...

Here's the link she sent me about it, in case anyone wants a look!

Thanks for any help!!

I was told not to use a humidifier with a CF kiddo. Humidifiers are really difficult to keep clean, since so many germs are water borne it just distributes it into the air for your CFer to breathe in.

When it comes to humidifiers in general, there are warm mist ones (from what I have seen they are small, that only hold a couple gallons of water) that works by 1. boiling the water and 2. treating it with a UV light that are supposed to be 99.9% germ-free. I do feel comfortable with one of those since I can clean/sanitize the tank as well as the base assembly of the unit (it all comes apart) and I know boiling kills germs. We have one of these. I would not use a cool-mist one or anything that would be difficult to thoroughly clean.

I have a few concerns about this one based on the website; 1/ it doesn't say whether it's warm mist or cool mist. I assume it's cool. 2/ I'd be concerned about the fan breeding germs too, since it would stay perpetually damp and then blow whatever it grows into the air, and 3/ it mentions having a filter but where is the filter installed and what are it's capabilities? Does it filter the water, or filter pollutants or germs from the mist before it's blown into the room, or what? Sanitizing solution is good but won't help if bugs can grow once the water leaves the main tank (i.e. on a wet fan blade.) I would be a bit leery about it without knowing more, but this is just me.
