Best College Fight Song

is this where the colleges line up in a field across from each other and sing a song, full of obscenities at each other, in a vain bid to upset the other collage into charging at the other?

I'll go for MSU!! Knew more from that college, and wanted to go myself!!

Never liked Notre Dame, must've been because of a bad memory!

Dyza,
That sounds more like a description for American Football!!

(P.S. I ain't got the slightest in what college songs are what!! I've been a "wafer" too long!)

Emily,

You may have heard a little bit of the best fight song last year on the sugar bowl? Remember that game? (that was mean and cruel, sorry)

Oh! Come let's sing Ohio's praise,
And songs to Alma Mater raise;
While our hearts rebounding thrill,
With joy which death alone can still.
Summer's heat or Winter's cold,
The seasons pass, the years will roll;
Time and change will surely show
How firm thy friendship O-hi-o.

These jolly days of priceless worth,
By far the gladest days of earth,
Soon will pass and we not know,
How dearly we love O-hi-o.
We should strive to keep the name,
Of fair repute and spotless fame,
So, in college halls we'll grow,
To love the better, O-hi-o.

Tho' age may dim our mem'ry's store,
We'll think of happy days of yore,
True to friend and frank to foe,
As sturdy sons of O-hi-o.
If on seas of care we roll,
'Neath blackened sky, o'er barren shoal,
Tho'ts of thee bid darkness go,
Dear Alma Mater O-hi-o.

Go Bucks!

The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,
Let every loyal Iowan sing;
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the walls and rafters ring (Go Hawks!)
Come on and cheer, cheer, cheer, for IOWA
Come on and cheer until you hear the final gun.
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the game is won.

Did you see the way Notre Dame charged across the field after hearing the
obscenities sung?

When I was a boy, during my primative American initiation rites, Great Uncle Pinky
taught me this one while hogtying a satellite dish in Hubbard just before the
big game:

Hullabaloo! Caneck! Caneck!
Hullabaloo! Caneck! Caneck!

Oh, goodbye to Texas University
So long to the orange and the white
Good luck to those dear old Texas Aggies
They are the boys who know the real old fight

"The eyes of Texas are upon you"
those are the words they sing so well
(sounds like hell!)
So goodbye to Texas University
We're gonna beat you all to
Chigaroogarem! Chigaroogarem!

Rough! Tough! Real stuff! Texas A&M!

RIP, Pinky. RIP, Longhorns.

Craig, it's definitely an American thing--most of us don't know the words to our school's fight song, but we clap and stamp our feet and hot and hollar to cheer team on. Most songs were made 80 yrs ago--that's why theey're so lame!
