Best holiday memories...

What are some of your best holiday memories? No matter if it was from when you were a kid or not, let's hear it. Mine are:

When I was little we would spend Christmas Eve with my mom's side of the family and Christmas Day with dad's. One year on Christmas Eve (I must have been 5) my dad and my uncle snuck out of the party and went back to our house. When we got home (late) Santa had already been there and all of our presents were under the tree and our stockings were full! It was so exciting to walk in and know that we might have JUST missed him! Santa got me a bike that year and my stuffed racoon that I named Rocky.

Another year mom took me to see Santa and all I wanted in the entire world for Christmas was a teddy bear. I remember all the other moms who were there going "AAAAAAAW!" when I asked for a bear and absolutely nothing else. I got got a huge cuddly bear under the tree.

And then of course was the year I was 6. Christmas Day dad came home with a new puppy in his coat. Our neighbors dog had puppies on December 15th so dad brought her over just long enough to show her to us and let us know that she would be ours.

2 years ago I was living with my best friend and his mother, who is disabled, and we cooked up a storm on Christmas Day. It was probably one of the most low key Christmases I have ever had but I had so much fun making dinner together and opening gifts. Neither of us had much money at the time so they were simple presents but it really meant a lot. I got his mom a make up set because even though she can't get out much its still fun to get pretty.

My family is HUGE...absolutely HUGE. My mom comes from one of the youngest of 8 kids. So she has a lot of older brothers and sisters...who have older kids. So most of my cousins on that side of the family are older than me, but its ok b/c that means there are like 30 some odd first cousins...and all the older ones have kids of thier own. Its just a grand old mess that turns out to be SOOOOOOOOO much fun every year. We do our party on Christmas Eve...at MY house. haha. That is just one of my favorite things about the holiday. I dont really have specific details, but the party means the most to me. I love being with my family and celebrating the holidays.

It usually gets crazy with the drunken uncles, the kids smashing the ping pong table...me throwing dolls at my cousins (yes this happened last year)...oh yea and the infamous cousin who brought her bf years ago...and he never came back. She is still with him, but he doesnt come to our party.

OMG...CUTEST story EVER right here. I have this cousin who is autistic. I LOVE him to pieces (as I do all my cousins). Well anyway, they dont always come b/c they live far away, but two years ago they were here. Another cousin of mine had just had a baby and she brought him and dressed him as Santa. Now this baby was only like 4 months if that...my autistic cousing went nuts. He was soooooooo SUPERRRRRRRR excited to see this baby. I have the GREATEST pics of him googling at "Santa." Well then he got to hold "Santa" and it got even cuter. He, the one holding the baby, just LOVED it. He loved the idea of holding a baby, no less holding SANTA. It just make me happy, knowing that my cousin could have a great time and be so happy.

Oh, this is fun...

My best Christmas memory is the last Christmas my dad was alive. Nothing major happened but I think we really connected as a family that year. It was my little sister's second Christmas and she love opening presents-- love the wrapping paper better than the stuff inside. My mom got the best pictures of us riding on my dad's back around the living room.

I always loved going to my Grandma's house for Christmas dinner-- she is the best German cook ever! The cousins and double cousins would come over and we would play with our new toys. I would eat more than any of the other kids-- hat lovely CF bottomless pit stomach.

Grandpa always made sure I had a new dress for church when Christmas time came each year. I was huge tomboy and Grandpa insisted that I dress up "like a little girls should" for the holidays. We are talking lots of lace and frills. Make my toes curl to get that dressed up but I knew it made him happy.

OH I love this thread!!!!

I have so many wonderful memories growing up but the most fun memories are recently.

Around me there is a farm that dos a huge Christmas lights drive thru. It is so cool and the money raised goes to a charity (not sure which one). Anyhow, every year we decorate my mom's tree and then we all pile into the huge SUV and go through this light festival. My mom's sister and I ALWAYS get in the back because, unfortunatley, drinking always makes the both of us pass gas LOL!!!! So they stick us back there It is so much fun and it is usually not just family. Some of my mom's closest friends come over too. We all have so much fun and after going thru the lights we drive around looking at all the houses decorated. I just love it. It's low-key and fun and I always end up laughing so hard I feel like I'm gonna die
