That's honestly really disgusting. It's not her fault - ***** happens, and that's one of them. Yes it can be annoying, but you don't see them kicking every family that has a screaming baby off a plane. That's just unfortunate.

I can understand 'kicking' her off if she was throwing up from the coughing, b/c she'd probably not want to fly either, but i bet had they waited and allowed her to calm down, it would have passed and she would have been fine the rest of the flight. I feel so bad for this poor girl!

I'm going to play devils advocate here and say that I think they did what they thought was best for the other passengers on the plane. They didn't know what her issue was, maybe she was pasty white and sickly looking in addition to the coughing and trouble breathing. It's in the best interest of the pilot, who's ultimately responsible for the flight, to make sure that SHE is taken care of, as well as what is in the best interest of who is left on the plane.

With all the things that are available to "catch" nowdays, you have to do what's best for the majority, not the minority. What happened if it was more than just a cold and she coded on the plane, AFTER she had all those problems. Who's A%s would be in hotwater then? Not her's, the pilot's.

To cover your butt, if you are worried about something like this; take a note from your doctor about your CF and a little informational print out about CF next time you take a trip.

I do agree to some extent that this is crazy, but then again, how would you like to be sitting next to someone that is obvioulsy sick and violently coughing for 10 hours? With SARS and bird flu looming, this is not the first time we will hear about this happenning.

Im not really sure how i view this.... On one hand i can certainly understand why no-one would want someone on a plane that is sick and coughing like that, but on the other hand even healthy people can get a coughing fit when they have a cold or asthma, or even bad allergies. I think the airline did what they thought was best for the protection of the plane full of passengers, and i am glad to see they are going to reimburse her costs for having to stay another day. In honesty i can see their point, because how do they know it was just a one-time coughing fit and not something serious........

Yea i dunno...Its just frustrating because Ive been there before, not necessarily on a plane...but in classes, at stores. Its not like your going to tell everyone who looks at your funny that you have CF, but still...I guess we have to try and look at both sides...

I do like your idea Julie of bringing a note and pamphlet. I wouldnt think of something like that...but then again its confidential, we shouldnt really HAVE to do things like that.
