Hi everyone,Wanted to share my story that happened recently and blew out of porportion today with my job. Was wondering if anyone has had any issues with their employers making accomidations even with a doctors note.
So a few weeks ago I had to have an emergency appendectomy which caused me to be out from work for a week and a half. I went back and that brings us to this week in which I had to start IV therapy for an infection. After speaking with my Cf specialist, we decided the most a week I can work would be 4 days. That way I can have enough days needed to keep up with my doctors appointments.
I have a note from her stating exactly that and that in 1-2 years I will have to start looking into lung transplantation as treatment to my lung illness.
My manager has a large history of not returning phone calls, not filling in for people when needed, and over working people. He has me working sometimes 7 days straight, 9 hour days.I receieved my note last week and explained to my manager that I needed to meet with him in person and asked when he would be in the office. He kept harassing me to tell him what was going on. I explained to him I have a doctors note I need to go over with him. Kept trying to get me to explain what exactly was in the note over text message, I tried calling him and he wasnt where he said he was. He lied. It got to a point where I told him I will meet with him today at 11 in one of the offices he was supposed to be in.We had an ice storm here, so no way was I driving. I texted him asking when he would be in my office branch and he said "I need to know what is going on and if it effects next weeks schedule." Since it does I called him.All [censored] broke loose. Pretty much what him and the owner of the practice was saying was that I have taken off so much time that thye are going to look for my replacement and that once one is found they are going to get rid of me.
My performance in work is 110% when I am there. I work when I am on IV's and the only time off I have needed was recenetly with the surgery.I'd like to know with other Cf'ers working full-time if you have ever experienced anything like this at all. I am looking into pursuing legal action and having that in place if they do get rid of me.
This practice is privately owned but has more than 15 employees. My manager is awful. There have been times where I have tried to reach him to come into the office to take my place for the day while I went to the doctor but never responded back to me, so I had to have my mother wheel me in because I couldnt walk and breathe...mind you that time I went on o2 immediately when I went to see my Cf specialist.
So that is what I have been dealing with...any insight would be great...Im expecting harassment from them to get me to quit...Thank you!
