Bloating

My daughter is 22 and was diagnosed @ age 11. Ever since she was about 15 yrs old, she has been either asked or congratulated about "being pregnant". She is not now nor has she ever been pregnant! She is incredibly depressed about it and asked last night about having an operation on her stomach. Any input would be very helpful. Thank you.

The bloating went completely away, when we started my boys on very high doses of probiotics...35 billion units a day and they are 4 and 8 and when we went gluten free.

blessings,
missa

What kind of probiotics are people taking? Would regular yogurt be sufficient? After all, all yogurt has live cultures... I've only ever taken the "fancy" stuff (a.k.a specifically labeled for probiotic nuts) while on PICCs because of the insane amounts of antibiotics (do NOT want a UTI....)

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote><i>Originally posted by: <b>saveferris2009</b></i> you get a UTI from antibiotics? never heard of that. everyone I know gets a yeast infection.... interesting</end quote>
I'VE never personlly had one, but I've heard time and time again that while you're on heavy antibiotics the risk of UTI goes up, since the meds are wiping out so much bacteria everywhere, even in your gut. I've always been advised to eat extra yogurt and whatnot during heavy antibiotic rounds, just in case.

Try a colon clease and then try to keep it up. I used the fizzy bottles (not fun) and then amitiza (prescription) and milk of magnesia. If I don't keep up with, I start looking pregnant (the kids call it their baby brother).

Have you checked out the symptoms for gluten intolerance? I got into the subject this week, and now that I've been off gluten for two days the bloating has reduced considerably!

@ Swallowtail...hahaha.

Just a little update on my belly situation. I started Lactulose a week ago (and it hasn't done much). I also GREATLY reduced my cheese intake and popcorn (two of my weaknesses). Also, after reading this post a few days ago, I started Probiotic pills. My stomach aches are better, but I still feel HUGELY bloated at times throughout the day. I think my next step is to try and stop eating gluten...that will not be easy! I feel like if I give up gluten and dairy, there isn't much left that I can eat. But I am also thinking I may be able to add cheese back in...so maybe add that and subtract gluten. I don't know.

You can do it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. A while ago I was eating mostly vegan because I wanted to see if that helped with bloating and I found it surprisingly easy to do, as lon as you stick to whole foods (not the store, sheesh... lol). That way there's no reading labels and standing in grocery aisles like a creeper <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">. You say, "Hmmm, an apple. does that have dairy/gluten? Nope!"
Have you tried any milk alternatives? Almond milk is great (a little pricey)
