Does anyone have much of this - it has bothered me a great deal over the years and also another friend of mine. Know it can come with the territory but others never seem to get it and some get it quite frequently even with no infection.

I will from time to time, mostly tho its with infection. The amount of blood your bringing up could be a concern. If it seems to be free flowing with out tapering off I would get into an ER. Other wise let your local clinic know in the morning. If your not sure, you might want to consult the attending doctor on call at your local clinic. I have found my self there are some set triggers that will bring this on, biggest being if I dry my lungs out to much for one reason or another I'll do a hard cough and tare at old scar tissue.

I get blood often. I am having one of those days today so far about 2 tablespoons. I usually get blood due to coughing a lot the day before. My DR and I agree that we wont worry about it unless it becomes sever. I usually get blood every week even had it every day 2 weeks ago but it wasnt much just on and off so DR said just rest do my treatments and drink ice water to calm my throat. When ever I get blood I just tell my close friends and family I cant do anything today my friend is here in my sputum they all know what I mean. I hope you find some comfort for your bleeding. I know in my 37 years of fighting CF it can be scary so I wish you luck...

i cant find the article now but in 1960 they used to give people estrogen to controll bleeding and it worked....and i am seeing articles now on estrogen and hemoptysis....i have had a definate increase in hemoptysis since going thru menopause ( im 51) so i dont know if its from low estrogen or because my bronchiectasis has really progressed as well ....but i think im going to start taking the premarin creme as prescribed and see if that helps....(it was not prescribed for hemoptysis) but maybe i can kill 2 birds with one stone....lol
