body aches and rash

so i wrote on here a couple weeks ago about a rash i was having on my legs and feet. i'd gotten it before, and finally i got into see a dermatoligist while it was still around. she quickly diagnosed it as this:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.medicinenet.com/erythema_nodosum/article.htm">http://www.medicinenet.com/erythema_nodosum/article.htm</a>

that was about three weeks ago and since then it has come and gone two more times. the erythema nodosum is a reaction to having a virus, just like hives or something. but this is a more rare reaction (apparently). she also said that this could be a result of taking birth control. so the second time it happened, my mom made me go off of it (i use it for my horrible achne).

now, i'm getting it again and we're all extremely tired of me complaining and going through this again. the past three weeks have been especially annoying because this time my rash is accompanied by horrible body aches and slight fever. im hurting so much. i feel like i have arthritus- my joints hurt so bad. but the dr ruled out arthritus, apparentley.

anyways, i would really apprieciate any insight into this. its just so annoying and starting to take a real toll on me emotionally.

i have hives around my body too, but not a lot. i wouldnt call them hives, just more of the rash, but my mom says theyre hives. anyways, they are so soar, not ichy, and are mostly aronud my shoulders and hip joints.

anyone?

This is very interesting. I've had a rash most of my adult life, but it's different from the one you are describing. My father, my sister and I get it any time we are getting seriously sick, or have had surgery. There's a big long name for it, but I don't know what it is. A dr told my sister what it was, but she didn't write it down and I've often wished I knew the name so I could check it out online. We call it the "------ rash" using my maiden name, since it feels like a family thing.

Ours is at the back of our neck (but when bad it creeps around front, too), our armpits, below our breasts (my dad get's it all down his chest), sometimes down my stomach if severe, and at the joints where my legs and pelvic meet and blend. At first it is red & raised and speckled, but doesn't itch. Then as it spreads it blends so it isn't speckled anymore but is large red like a sunburn and hot to touch. By this time it starts itching and as it fades about 4 days later it's REALLY itchy.

Anyone else experience this? None of my drs have ever seen it before. I always know I'm about to get sick if I see my rash starting!

Hey,
You are not alone!!! I've had 2 episodes of erythema nodosum about 6 years ago. I started to get EXTREMELY achy in my ankles and knees and developed a fever. Then i got the weird rash...dime to quarter sized red blotches on my legs.

My pedi at the time said that it happens to women more than men, and that they see it alot in people with lung diseases...weird. All you can really do is take meds like ibuprofin and rest. It sucks, but hopefully you'll get some relief soon!
