botox?

Hello all,
I hope this topic doesn't offend anyone; and I don't want to come across the wrong way. I was just wondering if any of you have had Botox injections? I am considering the idea and I know that putting anything foreign into your body can raise a concern but I was wondering if any CF'ers have had Botox? Or any reactions or side effects from Botox. Just wondering. Thanks for the input.

I would not even consider it. Why are you wanting it (what area)?
Remember botox is a form of botulism which is "a severe form of poisoning caused by eating spoiled food containing the toxin botulin".
With our compromised immune system, I wouldn't risk it, we have enough promblems as it is. This is also a fairly new procedure, I'm guessing....what if there are flare ups of botulism that happens down the road a few years??

I haven't had Botox but have thought about it, it never even occured to me not to do it because of being CF . I think when the time comes and I can see it coming quickly when I look at my forehead I will go and get it, I think I will just ask the doctor and tell him about the CF and if the doctor doesn't think it's a good idea then I won't do it . But I wouldn't be scared out of doing it because of what might be a side effect in 20 years time - if that was your philosophy in life you would never try anything new.

Awesome! Thanks so much. I really appreicate the advice from you! I don't like my forehead and I think that if Botox is going to make me happy.....then so be it. I do what makes me happy and I'm so refreshed that you have the same ideas! That means a lot.

Do you know how many CFers would love to just live long enough to have botox as an option?
I'll take all the wrinkles I can get, so what, it just means that I have lived long enough to get wrinkles!! Now grey hair....that's a whole other subject!

Hi,
the problem with the wrinkles on the forehead between the eyes is, that you always look angry and people think you are, although you are not...
In my case, the botox made it a little better, but the wrinkles did not vanish totally. Maybe they are too deep already or the doctor should have used more botox. How expensive is it in the USA? I had to pay about 100 dollars for these two wrinkles.

I'm not sure of the cost because I'm just starting to look into it. But I know the US is always more expensive when it comes to such things. That is why many people go to other countries to have such procedures done. I wouldn't pay a ton.....but I'm only 27 and have the forehead wrinkles. I know it's probably not a big deal to most, but if it makes me happy, why not do it.
Thanks for your support. It means a lot even though you are a stranger.
