Bra Purchases

I tend to put some investment into my bras. I do like some of the Victoria's Secret lines. I have found some really comfy well fitting ones there. I tend to buy a new bra once a year. I take after my grandmother in the fact that I'm small everywhere (4'9 and 93lbs) except my bust (I literally think all my weight is in those things), so I considered bras an important investment. Besides when I'm wearing a bra I like, my whole world seems a tad bit brighter.

I have problems with finding a good bra that fits right. Almost every bra I buy always winds up bugging the crap out of me and I hate the padded bras too. Its hard when you have two different sizes to deal with if you know what I mean. I dont buy them too often either Im not a laungeria person so......Ill wear my bra until its stretched and dingy looking then thats when its time for a new bra. Sorry if that was tmi.

im buying bras all the time. the minute one starts to feel uncomfortable or stretched they are in the bin. i spend no less than 30 bucks unless they are on a clearance sale. must be molded, must be underwire, musnt look ugly, musT [woopsie i put 'musnt' before!] ram boobs up and at least 1 must be convertable and strapless. i hate seeing poor quality and ill fitting bras on women. it really ruins an outfit and is bad for you.

my fav brands [all aussie im afraid] are berlei, elle macpherson and lovable. le mystere make bras very similar to berlei but they are twice the price.

ps. AnD, a DDD is actually an E cup. there are heaps of 34e's and 36dd's around! where are you looking? also, an underwire is much better. if you are finding the underwire uncomfortable then you have the wrong size or a poor quality bra. go get fitted at a department store or a good bra shop.

I usually get mine from Sears. The ones i get are from the "Enchanted" line(they cost less than $20.). My problem is usually finding my size (34D). Most bras in 34 go up to C but not D. The Enchanted ones from Sears have the 34D's so thats what i have been getting. I only buy underwire, because they offer the most support. After reading that the ones from Victorias Secret are pretty good i might have to try them. I agree that once they get all stretched out and are not doing their job, its time for them to go.

For some reason, our department stores just don't carry "e"s. (I had heard this before, but it is really uncommon around here to find something actually labeled "e"). I have looked at department stores and places like Walmart (where my favorite bra -in the fitting and looking acceptable criteria. was, but they've quit carrying them in the 36 dd ).

There is a new "bras and bathing suit only" (and the only one I've ever heard of around here) store about 30 min. away; I keeping meaning to go check it out, but it is in a "upper bracket" part of town, and I figure I'll find something I really like, and will pass out at the price- sad excuse, I know!LOL. I also have the problem of at least a half size difference- complicates things...36 dd's I can usually find, but I also have narrow shoulders, so it is the rare 36dd that I can sew up to fit me, but I do find them occasionally. I will take your advice and at least make myself go by that store and get fitted...Thanks!

I was a bra fit specialist at a maternity store so I'm gonna put in my two cents. How often you purchase bras is relative to how often they wear out. If it is stretched out its gotta go. If you find that you have to use a tighter hook or are shortening the straps then its stretched out. The straps should not dig into your shoulders and they should not fall off. If your bra leaves marks on your skin when you take it off its too tight. The band should not ride up your back, it should be a straight line all the way around. The cups should not be so tight that you get "frog eyes", that's when part of your boob is smashed up out of the top of the cup. There should also not be any free space between the bra and your breast. Its very important to have a well fitting bra. A lot lingerie and department stores offer free bra fittings.

I have always bought my bras at Victoria Secret until recently I made the switch to Gap Body. At Vicky's I liked the Apex and Body by Angel. I am a 34 B pre-prego and like underwire and some vavoom to my bra. I actually made the switch because I was sick of VS underwear not working for me. I like one stop shopping and the opportunity to buy matching sets hence I probably won't shop at Vicky's anymore. The cotton crotch is always too far back for me and my actual girlie goodies are on the non cotton area making for not a good situation... sorry if that was TMI. Anyone else have this problem?

Invest in a good bra and I find having 3-5 I can rotate them and get 3 years out of them! It makes the ROI on $40 worth it. I believe the trick is not to over launder them. And don't dry them. I only wash mine every 4-5 wearings or when I get hot and sweaty. Although I'm weird I'll admit, when my armpits sweat I don't stink so that makes it possible. So much so I don't have to wear deodorant. Is this CF related? Again sorry if TMI.

it took me a long time to find a good bra.

as you know, they stretch. they lose their shape. so I buy every year or so because a good bra makes clothes fit better, makes me stand up taller, and can make me look professional.

Even if I could only just buy one, i would buy one really good quality one, hand wash it and great it like a baby. it's worth the investment.
