Breastfeeding and Enzymes

I haven't experienced any irritation. When River was that age I would dip my pinkie in applesauce then pour on the beads. I don't know if that makes a difference. He's 21 months and now I just pour it the enzymes right into his mouth and bf. I go through periods when bfing is more painful but it passes. Fortunately, it has been mostly good and I haven't had issues with sore nipples.
I think Jody may be onto something.

I never had this problem while BFing, but DS would get sores in his mouth. The best thing IMO to do is to make sure all of the beads are swallowed. Do a check of her mouth. We would always try to look in DS's mouth and kinda do a sweep with our fingers if we thought that there was something in there.

And no, the enzymes do not have to be crushed for it to cause sores. The enzymes will start to break down if you just leave them in your/their mouth and can cause pretty painful sores.

HTH --- good luck, and I think it's AWESOME that you are able to BF your CFer!
