If you think you may have high CO2, call your doctor. I know it's a hassle and embarrassing sometimes if nothing turns out to be wrong, but no CF doc should ever be annoyed at a patient for calling about something like that. Really the only way to tell about CO2 is an ABG test (yuck, I know), b/c pulse-ox won't always give you the info you need. And much as an ABG test sucks, it's so much better than winding up in a bad situation b/c of CO2 retention. They can have the results for you pretty quickly (at my hospital it's literally within minutes) and you can go home feeling more secure, or worst case scenario get the help you need.
