a few weeks ago someone posted a video of a lung breathing machine, it was a clear chamber with a functioning lung inside. Just wondering if someone could repost the link.
Awesome link, Rebjane! I think I saw it on NPR before... I believe that there are a few different types of ex-vivo lung perfusion machines -- I think one of them you take to the procurement and the lungs are transported in the ex-vivo unit... And the other is at the recipient's hospital and the lungs are placed into it when they arrive... They allow for the lungs to be perfused, and often repaired -- and they allow for lungs that might otherwise be wasted, to save a life or lives... I believe that it's still in the trial/testing stage in the U.S. -- but it's being used in Canada and Europe... Here are two other links:
