BREATHING NOISES

I'm just curious - when Mel was sick with high fever and coughing
two weeks ago, she often made weird whistling noises when she
breathed in.  You could hear it from quite far.  She also
complained of having some difficulty breathing (mostly when she was
sleeping).   The day she fainted and we rushed her to the
hospital, they didn't hear anything in her lungs - and yet we
clearly heard her whistle!  I never thought to mention it to
the doctor who insisted we go back (because they discovered staph
in her throat) and who wants her to do a cf test.  If she
didn't have pneumonia, asthma or bronchitis, why would she
whistle like that?  Should I bring it up next time I see the
doctor?  We thought it was funny, at the time, but now I am
wondering....  Maybe it has something to do with the staph in
her throat.     - KAME

For me I have had "various" sounds. SOmetimes its my airways, sometimes its my nose. Sometimes it just the position of my head. The same thing with snoring. I am sure it could be a combo also!

My daughter, Abby, who has cf does not wheeze at all. Now my daughter, Beth, who has asthma does wheeze when she is not feeling well and her chest is "tight". Both have sinus problems and have been known to snore at times!

Mel did have asthma whenever she had her pneumonia's much younger
(and needed pumps), but they said it was because of her
pneumonia's.  I just thought it was weird that this whistling
sound came out of her mouth this time around, and that she didn't
have either asthma nor pneumonia - just a cough.   I was
just curious to know if this was something that cfers had - or if
it could be related to the staph, or maybe it isn't anything at
all.  Thanks - KAME

My son started whistling in his nose and had numberous nose polups- he had them removed and sinus clean-out and now makes no noise again.
