Breathing Treatment Update

Just wanted to let you all know that Daddy took Abby to her follow-up CF clinic appointment on Monday.

He expressed our concern with Abby fighting with breathing treatments and now we are using an aerosol type "inhaler" for her breathing treatments. It works so much better.

We have an order for the vest and it should arrive in a week or so. Hopefully we'll be able to do her CPT more effectively. She enjoys sitting and reading and playing hand games (pat-a-cake).

They met with a new doctor who is new over the clinic. He wants us to continue the breathing treatments two times a day and increase the CPT to 3-4 times a day. He wants to take a more aggressive stance in Abby's preventative care. Her next appointment is in March unless she can't shake this cold with her rattle.

It sounds like your clinic is very proactive, which is good. I know we can't "hear" each other in the common way, but I can "hear" in your "voice" that you are feeling much better about things and I am so relieved for you!

You are exactly right, I FEEL relieved and actually energized that we are settling into our new normal. Scary, yes. Not what I wanted, correct. But dealing, moving forward, and getting into a groove.

The Aerochamber is awesome. Abby doesn't fight, she just chills and laughs if we make ducky noises since the mask is a duck. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

YEA! Sigh. Life moving forward and leveling out means I can PUT UP OUR TREE! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

We've been using the inhaler with the optichamber for a year now -- I know eventually we'll go back to nebs when new meds are introduced but its nice to get thorugh the pre-rational toddler phase with this easier instrument. The vest will help you a lot too -- we used to have to do CPT while holding Alyssa on our shoulder and walking around, because she could stand it when sitting down. UGH!! It was awful and tiring. Its sooo much better now.

Glad you are feeling better.
