Bronchies

Hi, I'm writing because I have this soreness in my bronchies. At least that's what I think it is.

I have been coughing a lot the last few weeks, so this might be a consequence of this.

I had a cold about 3 weeks ago, then when it just was about to go away it started a bit again. I started antibiotics also 3 weeks ago. Two weeks on Augmentin and I have been about one week on another type, which name I cannot remember. I still am coughing up phlegm, so am continuing on the antibiotics.

Also I started having alergies, which I am taking antihistamic for.

So tough month, and just started a new job...

But back to my problem. My sore bronchies. In the morning I feel ok, I don't feel the soreness. But during the days it comes, and in particular when I walk to the bus after work. It hurts to breath in. I don't know if I should take anything else for this?

I am still coughing and feel short of breath. My phlegm is clearing nicly, mostly thanks to Sodium Chloride.

I probably will contact my doctor... just thought I'd write to see if any one knows anything about this?

Thanks

Gunhild

Hi Gunhild,

Sorry to hear about your tough month. I understand there may be a language barrier here, I am not qute sure what you mean by "bronchies" but I guess you mean bronchi? Where your trachea seperates into two tubes?

It sounds like inflammation. Obviously your doctor is the best person to ask but I owuld reckon it is extra inflammation after the infection you've had that is causing the soreness. An anti-inflammatory inhaler like pulmicort or symbicort work well bacause they contain steroids which reach the bronchial surfaces directly and could relieve some of the inflammation.

They are also a helpful long-term treatment since inflammation that is allowed to run excessively causes damage.

Good luck in the new job!

i have had these pains as well. and most of the time that i notice the pain is when i am walking or running, anytime i am having to breath a little swifter. it feels like my bronchi is spasming. i think deifinitely an inhaled steroid as well. it will probably open you up , so your bronchial tubes are not staining to get air through.

Hi, thanks for your answers. Yes I mean the bronchi, our organ situated in between the chest and the throat It feels like it's inflamed... I inhale symbicort in the mornings and nights. I am afraid to increase the dosis, because when I've taken more in the past, I get this nervous feeling, like my body is shaking on the inside. It's very uncomfortable.

Now Easter is coming and I'm going to relax a few days, I hope this will help
