Bronchitis-like cough....

Ok, So I have this bronchitis-like cough, I've had it for 2 days. I cough ALL the time. Not a good CF cough, just an annoying tickle-in-the-throat type cough. And I cannot get rid of it. It keeps me up at night (like now!).
I've been drinking water, sitting up in a recliner (instead of laying down), doing breathing treatments, taking cough syrup....nothing is helping and I'm tired of losing sleep!

And advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Kelli

I know how you feel! Have you tried a throat spray? It might help the tickly feeling. By the way, cough syrup is generally not a good idea for CFers, it dries out your mucus membranes making the junk in our lungs harder to cough up. You could also try Tylenol pm to help you get to sleep.

Usually if I am up more than two or three nights in a row coughing, I call my doctor. I think that three days is a good wait period, if your body isnt going to be able to fight it off, you will know or you can tell by then (like if you are losing that much sleep).

I also like to try...and my doc and PT laughed at me for this. But in college (i was 21 at the time of this...lol) I had such a bad cough/cold and I knew I wouldnt be able to sleep that night. I made a cup of tea and put a lil shot of raspberry rum in it! It tasted so good and I slept through the night.

Good luck and feel better!

Thanks for your replies.
And Jessi, I used the cough syrup at my LAST resort (due to your reasons listed). I never use that stuff but I was in need last night. I think it just made me tipsy from all the alcohol in it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Then I was able to sleep better. That stuff is nasty.

So it looks like I need to overdose on sleeping pills and alcohol and then I'll just pass out and be out all night. I think that is sounding pretty good. Considering my sides have splitting pain from all the coughing I did last night! Geesh. I would have thought I'd have a 6 pack today from my abs getting such a work out.

Thanks again,
Kelli
