Do many people suffer from bruised ribs as a result of maybe a strain that is made worse by night time coughing? Any suggestions for treatment?
I am on 3 different painkiller s for last month and it is still uncomfortable and can be very painful especially when coughing etc

In my experience, a heating pad works wonders. Also, if you are taking Tylenol, Asprin, ect., and once again this is my experience, I cough worse when they "kick" in. That in turn makes my ribs hurt worse.
This also may sound crazy, but I get chest therapy done by hand and percussor. When I have that done, it makes my ribs more able to stand force without hurting. They kinda built up I guess, but I rarely get sore ribs anymore unless I am really sick and coughing worse.

I agree on the heating pad. It helps me when I have the bruised ribs feeling. I also use a pillow when I'm sitting in a chair to support my back, this sometimes helps.
I hate that feeling, it hurts when you cough, sneeze and even when you laugh. Hang in there! I hope it gets better soon.

I'm curious. What exactly happens when you have bruised ribs? I never thought about what it was before. Sometimes if I'm particularly sick or just cough on-end for long while, I get this sharp pain around my ribcage. Is that the same thing? I never stopped to think that it might be anything specific other than just "strain" or what have you.
